concert band program

The Concert Band Program at FFCHS is the center of the band program comprised of three concert ensembles of approximately 160 students: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. All three ensembles perform at four band concerts throughout the year (Fall Concert, Holiday Concert, Winter Concert, Spring Concert), as well as the CHSAA Large Group Music Festival in April. The Symphonic Band & Wind Ensemble perform at the Colorado Bandmasters Association Concert Regional & State Concert Festival.

All percussionists enroll in the Percussion Class at FFCHS. Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble courses are strictly wind players, as this allows percussionists to focus on ensemble music and other literature outside the typical concert band music.

Students involved in the FFCHS Band program also prepare & perform at the District 8 Solo & Ensemble Festival second semester, the fall musical (as part of the pit orchestra), Colorado Springs All City Band, Colorado All State Band, and various other honor bands throughout the area. FFCHS Trojan marching band

The Trojan Marching Band has grown significantly over the last three years! In the 2018 season, the band comprised of 62 members; the 2019 season had 92 members, and the 2020 season (although the competitive season was cancelled) had 100 members. The Trojan Marching Band was ranked 23rd in 2018 in the CBA Class 5A classification, and then jumped to 12th Place in 2019 - and the band continues to improve and grow!

The Trojan Marching Band holds a mini-camp at the end of the school year for all members, short sectionals in the summer, and a full band camp the last two weeks of July. Once the school year begins, the marching band rehearses daily after school from 3:3op.m. to 5:30p.m. The marching band performs at all home football games and various marching competitions throughout the region. Marching Band grants students a P.E. waiver, as it considered an athletic activity at FFCHS.

The Trojan Marching Band is open to any student in the FFCHS Band program and all members must actively participate in the concert program to join. Color Guard students enroll in the "Color Guard for Marching Band" course which meets during the school day, and guard members also attend rehearsals after school with the rest of the marching band. Jazz ensembles

FFCHS offers different performance opportunities for jazz ensembles. Jazz I meets during the school day and students enroll in the course during registration. Jazz II meets three days a week after school for students who are unable to take another band class in the school day. Recently, a Jazz Combo was added for advanced jazz musicians that meets frequently at times set by the ensemble.

The Jazz Bands perform at the annual "Rising Freshmen Night," the Jazz Dinner (band program fundraiser) with the Peak Big Band & Fountain Middle School Jazz Band, and other school events & functions as they arise.

Jazz I, Jazz II, and the Jazz Combo all perform at local jazz festivals, and have consistently received Superior Ratings since 2018. Students who are interested in Jazz Band must be enrolled in a concert ensemble (other than keyboard, guitar or bass players). Click here for more information about jazz!

FOUNTAIN-FORT CARSON HIGH SCHOOL

Fountain-Fort Carson High School was originally built in the heart of Fountain, where what is now known as Fountain Middle School. As the community continued to grow, it was necessary to build a new high school that would hold the current students and allow for future growth. In 1999, the high school opened its doors at its current location on Jimmy Camp and has continued to improve and grow, going through two additional expansions with a student count of approximately 1800 students.
